One of my mom’s good friends highly recommended to us a restaurant that she mentioned was in the Louvre museum. She ate there when she visited Paris with her family, and this was one of two restaurants that she specifically recommended. The other one has since closed. We discovered that the restaurant was not in fact inside the Louvre, although that would have been awesome if there was a Kosher restaurant inside the museum! It was about a ten minute walk from the museum.
Le Grande Mechant is a small dairy restaurant with a small menu that is nice for lunch, however, I would not recommend it as a dinner destination. The menu consisted of salads, sandwiches, pastas and fish. Josh ordered a pasta with fresh tuna, vegetables, and arrabiatta sauce. He was starving so he was so relieved to be eating, however, he was not thrilled with his dish. The sauce looked more like a light pink oil than a thick tomato sauce, and he wasn’t sure if the tuna was fresh or canned. I ordered a sandwich with grilled eggplant, peppers, fresh mozzarella, and olive tapenade on toasted bread. My dish came with a very tiny salad and French fries. The sandwich bread was kind of bland and stale tasting. I think it was just toasted wonder bread. The veggies and cheese were delicious, especially because I ordered a side of marinara sauce to dip them in. The French fries were pretty good, standard, and the salad was just a few pieces of iceberg lettuce, a cherry tomato, and some balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
